The Labor Day Sale Scoop (and My Rug Hunt Update)

Hey y’all, Happy Labor Day! I pulled together some of the best sales I’ve seen this weekend— most end today or later this week! Personally, I swear the last day always has the best deals (zero proof, but we’re rolling with it).
Also… big update: I’ve officially started the Great Rug Hunt of 2025 for our new living room. At first, I thought we needed a 12x15 (because apparently I forgot how to measure), but after pulling out the tape measure again, turns out a 10x14 will do the trick. #MathIsHard
The problem? The “dream rug” in my head doesn’t actually exist. At least not for under $5k, which is just insane considering we’ve got dogs, a one-year-old, and another baby on the way. (Translation: if a juice box doesn’t take it out, the Australian Shepherds will.) So yeah… send help. Also, when I asked ChatGPT the “average price” of a rug, it told me $2k was affordable. I’m sorry, what?!
Okay, enough about rugs that may or may not exist—let’s get into the fun stuff: the sales worth checking out right now for furniture and home décor.
Quick note: Labor Day is one of the biggest sales weekends of the year—top 2 or 3, easily. But remember, holiday sales are just around the corner (hello, Black Friday). So if you don’t find the piece today, don’t stress. There will be plenty more opportunities.
What’s worth snagging right now:
Mattresses – Major savings across many retailers (we just grabbed one from Costco! Amazon has great options too!)
Appliances – Lowe’s, Home Depot, Best Buy, and Costco all have solid deals.
Outdoor finds – Patio sets, rugs, grills… end-of-summer = big discounts.
Sales Round-Up and Where to Shop:
Amazon – up to 40% off (aka “how did I spend $200 on random stuff I didn’t know I needed?”)
Anthropologie Home – up to 40% off (always dangerous… I basically want one of everything)
Albany Park – up to 45% off (if you need a couch that doesn’t cost your life savings – this is where we got ours!)
Arhaus – up to 60% off clearance (translation: the one time you can actually afford Arhaus)
Ballard Designs – 20–75% off + free shipping! (I have beef with shipping costs lately, so this is a win)
Costco – appliances + mattresses (we snagged both for the new house —adulting at its finest)
Crate & Barrel – up to 60% off clearance (basically, their attic sale but make it chic)
Kirklands – up to 75% off (it’s giving Hobby Lobby but make it furniture)
Lowes – up to 40% off appliances (because your fridge deserves a glow-up too)
Magnolia – up to 25% off (Joanna Gaines just whispered “buy it” in your ear)
Pottery Barn – up to 60% off + extra 20% off sale (finally makes their lamps semi-affordable)
Serena & Lily – up to 40% off (coastal grandma chic, anyone?)
West Elm – up to 60% off + extra 20% off clearance (clearance on clearance = my love language)
Wayfair – up to 70% off (but like… aren’t they always??)
World Market – 20–30% off furniture + 50% off clearance (aka the land of “one more throw pillow won’t hurt”)
So there you go—Labor Day is truly one of the big sale weekends of the year. But don’t stress if you miss something—holiday sales are coming in hot, and Black Friday is basically lurking around the corner (crazy!!!)
In the meantime… may your shopping cart be full, your coffee strong, and your rugs actually exist.
Designing with a little faith, a lot of coffee, and the occasional DIY fail—see you in the next post!
